    You Can Make It

by Matthias Mader (27.02.2008) An incredible twelve years ago, Backfire from Maastricht were one of the bands introducing the European Hardcore invasion. Hardly any band in this genre can look back on such a long history also if there has been a break for some years lately. "In harm's way" is the first album since "Change the game", released in 2003. Stylistically, not much has changed in Backfire, though. The twelve songs on "In harm's way" again present themselves heavily inspired by the second wave of the N.Y.C.H.C.-sound without forgetting to add the band's own touch to it, too. The razor sharp guitars, driving forward drums, and galloping bass rhythms, combined with the psychotic vocals of Pat make the Backfire sound uniquely remarkable (and interesting for all old school fans, too, by the way). With "In harm's way", Backfire impressively proves that they can easily compete with the old heroes, like Madball, as well as new names, like Terror. Check This One Out!
