by Olaf Plotke (04/01) Dokken prepare for their comeback to the top. They have entered the studio again and recorded new material. But prior to the release of the new album they release this live recording from their earlier days: a testimony of their on-stage skills which will also be available on DVD. This is Dokken in their legendary line-up featuring Don Dokken, George Lynch, Jeff Pilson and Mick Brown. "Japan Live '95" is a display of Dokken fireworks - "Tooth and nail", "Into the fire", "Kiss of death", "It's not love", "Mr. Scary", "Breaking the chains" to name but a few. Almost 75 minutes of Dokken's best, perfect in quality and precision. Only flaw is the audience who is either very reserved and/or mixed too much into the background, either way you can only hear them in the background, sometimes not even that. That may not disturb everybody since the screaming of the fans can also be distracting but I like hearing the crowd - to me they are a bit calm. But the album is still great!
