by Matthias Mineur (01/02) Are the days of melancholy in Tiamat gone forever? At least the first single, "Vote For Love" could let you believe in that. And also the public notes of singer/guitarist Johan Edlund, who since the terror attacks in New York now seems to prefer a job as a world-betterer, strengthens this impression. But fortunately, not everything is new in the house of the Swedish Gothic Metallers. Also if the basic tenor of the new songs is far more optimistic, most of the songs of "Judas Christ" convince by their cool charms, a mixture of suffering, life and loving. Further enhanced by an exquisite production, that Lars Nissen produced in the legendary 'P.U.K.'-Studios in Copenhagen, besides the grabbing rock riffs also allowing the quieter, more intimate moments. Heavy guitar-riffs rattle, and straight forward drums hammer, added is Edlund's clear voice. Short: the known Tiamat-qualities in perfect sound.
