Finally, the Killswitch Engages debut album (release 2002) could been put on stock again after the Ferret Records-pressing had become a bit rare in the last months. I don't have to say too much about Killswitch Engage, I guess, the guys around Adam Dutkiewitz (guitar, drums & producer in once) is much too prominent, anyway. Already on this self-titled debut album, they presented this enegretic mixture of brutal metalcore and lovely melodies making them sometimes even drift into doom-like spheres. For new fans who only knew their 2003-album, "Alive or just breathing" and/or the current output, "The end of heartache", "Killswitch Engage" is an absolute must. Songs, like the thrilling opener, "Temple from the within" or the dragging "Rusted embrace" are just brutal fine. Essential! (Benny Ramm - July 2004)
