by Olaf Plotke (null) Fans of Blind Guardian and Stratovarius will rejoice when they listen to the debut album of Italian band Rhapsody. The melodic power metalists present a fascinating debut which will definitely have a deep impact on the scene. Powersongs stand in one line with ballads and classic pieces. Already the fulminant opener "Ira Tenex" reminds of "O Fortuna" from Orffs "Carmina Burana". Then on "Warrior of ice" the guys really tighten the grip. You'll get some folkloristic tunes on "Forest of unicorns". The power ballad "Echoes of tragedy" follows Manowar's "The crown and the ring" and "Virgin skies" comes along like a piece by Bach. Hence, Rhapsody offer you an unbelievably large variety of styles. The lyrics naturally deal with all kinds of phantastic stuff: all right, we have noble knights, unicorns, evil dragons (uuuuhhhh) and a couple of immortals. A highly recommandable album!
