by Markus Wosgien (29.09.2006) Jon Oliva has written Metal history with Savatage, and with his new band he manages the seamless transition to their old classics. This succeeding album of the "Tage Mahal" debut was already preceded by the mini album, "Straight-Jacket memoirs", underpinning the enormous class and variability of the magician. A majestic song with some slight Queen and Beatles elements, reminiscent of the "Edge of thorns" phase; a gooseflesh ear candy presenting the band with their rocky side. Eleven songs are on the new opus and it feels like a travel through time. Already the opener "Through the eyes of the King" could come from the legendary "Hall of the Mountain King" album, it has the same magic and leaves you breathless. One of the secrets of this class is that Jon used a number of unused riffs of his tragically casualty brother Criss, reviving his irreplaceable heir. In "The Answer" Jon asks if they could change the world. Yes, they already have. This album is a revelation!
