10.The Oncoming Chaos
by Matthias Mader (15.05.2009) What a stunner! As you may have guessed when reading the band's name, the Danes As We Fight come across pretty aggressive on their second release "Meet your maker". Precise and relentless as a steamroller, songs like "Blood will fill the coffin" or "Buried in lies" will totally flatten you. This is a core fusion of Hardcore and Death Metal, on the highest technical level. Mostly, As We Fight sound like a bastard of Sworn Enemy and Kreator, but Hatebreed, Heaven Shall Burn, or Caliban also spring to my mind. The biggest surprise - and my favourite of the album - is "The oncoming chaos", almost seven minutes long. With that song, the Danes prove that they have an impressive song-writing potential: various riffs intertwine nicely and there's even a touch of melody in the vocals... This versatile style will be the future for As We Fight, I'm sure.
