12.Little Girl In A World
by Matthias Mineur (11.07.2006) Never before, the stars have stood as good for the Italians, Exilia, as they do this summer. Because a serious competitor for Masha & Co. is not in sight. Skunk Anansie are long a legend, and the future of Guano Apes is as unsure as that of Eat No Fish. So it could well be that the brandnew mixture of contrary crossover and skilfully arranged radio format pop could provide them with a breakthrough in 2006. That may also be the reason why the record company beats the big drums in a volume that you couldn't ignore. For a good reason: while the guitars roar and the rhythm section provides a lot of power, Masha proves to be a versatile and energetic power girl. Most of the time, she stretches her vocal chords to the limit, yet whenever the music calls for it, she takes herself back and sings with pathos and empathy. That's the stuff real stars are made of.
