by Sonja Angerer (09.07.2007) After almost twenty years of band history, De/Vision is far from being noob – still, with this album, they open a completely new chapter. Thomas and Steffen completely composed it with the producer team Schumann & Bach, whom they also worked with for "Love will find a way", the extra bonus track on the "Best of" in 2006. The fresh blood has obviously done them good, because "Noob" is extraordinarily variable, also – or because – the album breathes some kind of 80s-flair. Like in e.g., "Flavour of the week", one of the best songs on the album, with its nervous NDW-intro and the irresistible chorus. Completely different is the restricted "Far side of the moon", this turns out to be a bittersweet Pop hymn with a true earwig character and fine details. "Deep blue" on the other side is an easy trip into Ambient-regions. As a whole, "Noob" manages the split to emphasis the roots of the band and still give them completely new freedom – a rare fortune!
