by Markus Eck (10.04.2008) Their first two records have got best reviews, now after some years of pause, Hollenthon surprisingly return. With their great ’99-debut, "Domus mundi" and its 2001-successor, "With vilest of worms to dwell", the band around the exceptional musician, Martin Schirenc established with their unique style combining a whole bunch of interesting innovations. Also the new studio album sets forth the stylistically individual sound: the current "Opus magnum" features symphonic, very edgy and bombastic, opulently arranged Epic Dark Metal of the heavy kind – noble refined with graceful, theatrical choirs and all sorts of fine, sonic ideas. That Schirenc and his ensemble not only have a passion for heavy steel but also a significant liking for movie soundtracks can be heard in the many corresponding, monumental passages.
