by Markus Eck (19.06.2008) In their Russian home country, they are already superstars of pagan folk metal – and now, Arkona get ready to spread their stuff over here, too: "Ot serdca k nebu" is the title of their latest studio album which is available as of now in Europe. Translated, this title means: "from the heart into the sky" and is a clear hint at the devotion with which this terrific band commits itself to its art: true heart and soul enliven this excellent release. One thing’s for sure: this CD is artistically authentic, really unpretentious, emotional – and the frosting on this cake consists of pure self-confidence. Just a handful of artists of the same genre on this planet dare to deliver a piece like that. With her unique and charismatic voice, songstress, composer and lyricist Masha "Scream" Arhipova absolutely shines on this intense and stirring masterpiece. The front cover artwork by Kris Verwimp catches the atmosphere of this amazing album perfectly.
