by Olaf Plotke (01.10.2007) I always considered Poison and Mr. Big as embarrassing. Maybe that’s the reason why I never really took note of their guitar ace, Richie Kotzen. Today, I know what I have missed. This man has recorded more than 30 albums, among them really serious records, like the Jazz collaboration, Vertu, with Stanley Clarke. And one thing is sure: Richie Kotzen is an exceptional guitar player, a great song writer and singer. His solo album, "Into the black" simply blew me away last year, now he presents his new masterpiece: "Return of the mother head's family reunion". With its title, the album ties up to his first album of the post-Poison-ear and also musically goes one step forward: excellent, guitar-orientated Rock. His music playfully overcomes borders, features Jazz-, Funk-, Metal- and Pop-influences – and still is a 100% Kotzen.
