by Riccardo Manazza (07.10.2007) The massive predecessor, "Doomsday machine", was kind of bursting all the time creating some mystic tensions. This gloominess can still be found on the seventh album of the Swedes, like e.g. in the title track. More dominating, however, is the return to the incredibly beautiful lead guitar duels of the re-united Amott-brothers. Traditional Hardrock solos. "Intermezzo libertΓ©", born out of the solo spot of the last tour, has some clear Gary Moore-reminiscences and 80s-Metal is brutalised by Angela’s powerful and very variable growls. The album title may not refer to Jag Panzer, still, American Power Metal is a big influence – as you can read in the German interview. "Blood on your hands" is a furious start in the likes of guitar heroes, such as Cacophony or David T. Chastain. Also the "Wages of sin"-Megadeth-riffing has come back, as well as the surprisingly clear classic motives in "Night falls fast" (solo) and "The great darkness" (choirs) – not to mention the irresistible first single ("Revolution begins"). Hello world power! Weltmacht!
