by Matthias Mineur (04.10.2006) Even if the British Rock band never had the big breakthrough outside of Europe, they have still become one of the most important British formations of the past 15 years. Their album "Backstreet symphony" in 1990 was reason enough to call them a legitimate successor of Bad Company or Led Zeppelin. Meanwhile, a lot of waters have run down the Thames river and Thunder are still not superstars in the real sense. Anyway, also with their new album "Robert Johnson's Tombstone" they prove again that hardly any other band from the Isle rocks so traditional and inventive at the same time. Especially the great voice of Danny Bowes and the fabulous guitar lines of the main composer Luke Morley is something you can always rely on a 100%. Without redefining the wheel, Thunder rock through a grooving arsenal of catchy songs that despite the casual use of acoustic guitars above all represent one thing: music for real men!
