Highlight so far was “Isa”, released two years ago and which provided Enslaved with numerous awards and prizes. The new album, “Ruun” sets forth where “Isa” left off and enchants with intelligent, epic, and both aggressive and melodic songs. There is no doubt, over the years, the band has managed to create their very own style that identifies them from hundreds of bands. The sometimes melancholic, sometimes aggressive atmosphere in combination with black metal and some slight 70s rock influences is the unique basis for great, demanding and oft extended songs. Best example is, e.g. the great title song as well as the succeeding “Tides of chaos“ featuring all of Enslaved's trademarksand convince from the first top the last second. I don't know any other band that manages to compose so well flowing, great songs. God-like!
