10.Autumnal equinox (Schwarze Messe)
by Alexander Ertner (10/99) If you ever have or had any interest in German Gothic Underground, you've got to know this band! The band of the artistic surrounding of Sonic Malade continues its way for years now and never cared about commercial matters. They always aimed for self-realization and still do it! "Schwarze Messe" was supposed to bring success. In this case, success would mean organizing money for new projects and to strengthen the scene. Regarding their music, comparisons to Anne Clark and Siouxsie, manifested in the 80s sound, are pretty obvious. E.g.: I still hear influences of Sopor Aeternus, my roommate starts talking about "Do you remember those days in the disco out in the country? - Yeah, I remember this music..." "Schwarze Messe" is a truly nice work with emotional ups and downs. An album for every Gothic freak or those who want to become one - a pleasure for the dark hours in life. Especially if you hardly have fun in your life, anyways! (Alexander Ertner - 10/99)
