The self titled debut album by 'Flying colours' is considered to be one of the most fascinating releases in the year 2012 - that’s what the critics agree on. On it, guitar player Steve Morse (Deep Purple, Dixie Dregs, Kansas), drummer Mike Portnoy (Transatlantic, Winery Dogs, Dream Theater), multi instrumentalist Neal Morse (Transatlantic, Spock’s Beard), bass player Dave LaRue (Dixie Dregs, Joe Satriani, Steve Vai) and the comparatively young singer Casey Mc Pherson combine virtuosity with melodic song writing. Or, how producer Bill Evans puts it: "Modern music in an un-modern way."

"Second Nature" sounds more progressive than the first album, but the idea to make this kind of music accessible to a mainstream audience is the same. Evans says: "The longer songs sound as melodic as the shorter ones. The guitar fraction can be heard live in four songs, in two others there is a gospel choir. This is how it stays varying.".

The last track "Cosmic Symphony" consists of the three parts "Still Life Of The World", "Searching For The Air" and "Pound For Pound".
