Product description

The ninth studio album by Axel Rudi Pell features less up-tempo songs, but more balladic and epic material instead of. The whole is excellently arranged again and Johnny Gioelis vocals are the icing on the cake.

by Matthias Mineur (null) Germany's super-blondie, Axel Rudi Pell presents known ingredients: sharp guitar-riffs, driving forward drums, classic vocals with a Rainbow-feel to it, solos Γ‘ la Ritchie Blackmore (Pell's big ideal). With this mixture, he's gained a big fan base that is only always surprised by the choice of the singer. After Rob Rock and Jeff Scott Soto, te current frontman is called Johnny Gioeli, who once sang in Hardline, and has previously already had the chance to reveal his qualities on Pell's 98-release "Oceans of time". However: on the new album, Gioeli is not as convincing as on that first album with Pell. Was that a bad day he had in the studio or were it the melody lines that Pell has given him? I'd suppose the latter, because in comparison to the predecessor, the songs on this new album are less cohesive. While "Oceans of time" was rocking, "The masquerade ball" is sometimes stocking. And: If Pell did the right choice with the cover version of Uriah Heep's "July morning" (as his fan club claims)?
