by Tero Lassila (19.07.2007) From the first second on, "Silent waters" makes clear that Amorphis kept up the way they chose for their sparkling comeback-album, "Eclipse", yes even increased the emotional passages. Which is not to say that the heaviness has suffered this fact, on the contrary: the Finnish six-pack has some awesome riffs and melody-lines in store that in connection with the heightened emotional factor easily outlives the predecessor. Alone Tomi Joutsen's vocal part already causes shivers down the spine. His voice is unique, full of drama and with enormous depth. Combined with the powerful riffs of the duo, Holopainen / Koivusaari and the casual placed keyboards of Saneri Kalli, the ten songs on "Silent waters" literally burn. Voluminous hymns, like "I of crimson blood" and "A servant" become permanent guests in the player. Variation is e.g. provided by the beautiful ballad, "Shaman"! Short: Amorphis again delivers top quality!
