"Skald" CD by Wardruna

For several years now, the founder and leader of the band Wardruna has been performing purely acoustic concerts and readings, where he brings solo versions of Wardruna songs to the stage as well as works he has composed for the TV series 'Vikings'. Parts of this material are finally available as 'Live In The Studio' recordings, performed at the Solslottet Studios in Bergen, Norway. All album formats include an extensive booklet with all the lyrics, including translations, as well as a detailed introduction to Norwegian poetry and the 'skald' tradition, contributed by the esteemed Icelandic author and Nordic philologist Bergsveinn Birgisson. 'Skald' takes the listener on a musical journey beyond the familiar, multi-layered and powerful Wardruna soundscapes, towards a simpler and more direct form, where voice, poetry, and traditional instruments such as the Kravik lyre, Taglharpa, and Bukkehorn pave the way.
