by Jürgen Tschamler (07/99) Those people who live in some kind of little hole somewhere in the USA, to be more specific Des Moines, Iowa must go crazy some day. The 8 Slipknot characters suffer from this fate. And since it'd be too hard to memorize 8 names they called named themselves 1,2,3,4,5,6,7 and 8. Hard to say what the guys are capable of doing musically, I just know that it's a ultrabrute, totally weird and unpredictable cauldron full of Ministry, Sepultura, old Machine Head and Skrew elements. The 15 tracker is like a roller coaster ride...to hell. Pumping bass passages, evil riffattacks and bizzare samples pass over to rapturous passages and suddenly into strange mid-tempo parts. Despite all that you can still recognize surprising melody lines. "Slipknot" is not masscompatible, no really! Fans of spaced out entertainment will get some more ammunition with "Slipknot", otherwise - be careful! You might experience something similar to a culture shock! (JΓΌrgen Tschamler)
