by Heiner Salomon (09/03) "The clan of the forrest" (that's what Korpiklaanis translates into) fires a real bombshell with "Spirit of the forest". Formerly known as Shaman the band celebrates top-notch Folk Metal. The Finns are versatile and highly diverse in ideas. Hence, the one side of the album offers guitar-driven neckbreakers such as "With trees" and on the other side you get instrumentals such as Pellonpekko" or Finnish s(w)ing-along tunes such as "You looked into my eyes". And good lord! This is a DEBUT! I can't believe it...the music is thought through into the tiniest detail and made with a lot of heart's blood. If you dig high-quality Folk Metal and Skyclad was too boring get Korpiklaani
