by Patrick Schmidt (null) Killer! Sensational!! Hardly any debut in the alternative section could blow me away like "System Of A down". The crazy quartet which originally comes from Armenia meanwhile moved to California and seasoned their sound cocktail with almost every imaginable kind of music. No matter if jazz, hardcore, ska, metal or rap the guys always know where to go in any section and most of the time combine the biggest contradictions into gigantic songs which logicaly differ a lot from each other. Just as unbelievable is the singer, a psychopath who makes his weird way through the album with his tremendous variety in voice. Imagine an ingenious mixture of Faith No More, Lard, Korn and a shit load of individuality et voila you have the best debut of 1998! Buy it!
