14.131Showdown, The
by Matthias Mineur (11.01.2007) The most interesting progressions in Heavy Metal often came when a band opened to a hybrid of different flows. On their sophomore release, the Showdown from Tennessee show how traditional material deeply rooted in the 80s can be mixed with modern, pioneering elements. "Temptation come my way" consists of eleven cleverly arranged songs that sometimes sound like Iron Maiden, sometimes like Metallica, Puddle Of Mud, Nickelback, Shadows Fall, Black Label Society or Judas Priest. A wild mixture, you think? Not at all! The Showdown is a bunch of extremely smart guys who manage to bring in all these ingredients so interestingly and authentically, that the end result is a very convincing album. The album was produced by Paul Ebersold, who also laid hands on the records of Three Doors Down. So it's no wonder why The Showdown has to be regarded as on of the hopefuls for 2007!
