by Oliver Kube (17.03.2008) Despite all honest anti-business tirades, the Polit Punks, Anti-Flag, had brought themselves into difficulties when signing to the major label, RCA, in 2006. The release of "For blood and empire", however, clearly proved that they didnβt go for any compromise, neither for the lyrics nor for the music. Also on the successor, album No. 7, "The bright lights of America" still has it all. Produced by studio legend, Tony Visconti (David Bowie, T.Rex, Manic Street Preachers and lately Morrissey), they introduce several stylistic changes. For example, when frontman Justin Sane is being accompanied by a childrenβs choir in the chorus of the title track, while several spots on the album feature strings, too. But donβt worry, the quartet from Pittsburgh still lost nothing of their power and - lyrical as musical β identity. Best examples are the fast, "Spit in the face" and the Ska-influenced hitter, "Good and ready".
