After the split of Black Metal icons Mercyful Fate in 1985, singer King Diamond, guitarist Michael Denner, and bassist Timi Hansen started a new band – and called it simply King Diamond, like their legendary vocalist. The band was bound to have success from the beginning: be it with their debut album "Fatal portrait", followed by "Abigail" (1987), "Them" (1988), "Conspiracy" (1989), or "The eye" (1990) – all of those are part of King Diamond's "The complete Roadrunner collection 1986-1990".
