Excellent Service

Without the legal wrangling with Ozzy/Sharon Osbourne, "The devil you know" from 2009 would have become a regular Black Sabbath album - featuring a heavenly singing Ronnie James Dio. What kind of tremendous legacy made by the best Metal vocalist of all times!

    Breaking Into Heaven

by Henning Richter (14.04.2009) They are veterans and yet debutants: Ronnie James Dio, Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler, and Vinnie Appice release their first ever album as Heaven & Hell. As Black Sabbath, they had already released three studio outputs, among them "Heaven and hell" in 1980 (with Bill Ward behind the drumkit then). This new one is mainly a combination of two characteristics: the dark tales told by Dio and the massive riffs provided by the godfather of Metal, Iommi. Spurred by the ever-pumping rhythmic department consisting of Mssrs. Butler and Appice, said godfather delivers an incredible performance – an example is "Bible black": front man Dio weaves a mystic scenario - and Iommi strengthens it with chords sounding surprisingly Metal. Two tracks are a bit out of the line: "Rock´n´Roll angel" with its romantic acoustic guitar sounds, and "Eating the cannibal" which is a really fast'n'mean Metal monster. All in all, you get the juggernaut you expected: this will turn the heads of Dio aficionados and Sabbath acolytes into ecstatic propellers!
