by Fabian Groth (09/99) Preceeded on "Secret samadhi", the band around singer Ed Kowalczyk confirms it with their 4th album: Live got quite a bit cooler than before. In this case cool doesn't mean trendy, hip or somewhat superficial. I'm talking about saying goodbye to those strained hymns they often produced in the past. Instead, now they rock! Of course it's still sort of contemplative and mature, carried by the, in 15 years of band-history developed, technical skills and use of all those accesories only used by bands with the ability to fill stadiums with their music. Sometimes all that maturity and contemplativeness is put aside and a different touch comes up that amazed me already on "Lakini's juice": Outstanding Rockmusic without superflous emotionalism.
