by Eugen Legat (08/00) Instead of getting us in the right mood for the upcoming 35 minutes with ì malicious entreaty, kitschy keyboards or even frog-chants, The Haunted ì rather show the mission their preaching by a headbangerfriendly instrumental ì transcending directly into "Bury your dead". And this mentioned title shows ì that heavy-riffing Jensen can't let off his cult word-games known from ì Witchery. Yet, The Haunted lift from this Retro Speed Metal attitude, ì guaranteed by the three Ex-At The Gates members responsible for the rhythms ì and the second guitar in Slayer vein. And even when in comparison to the ì debut album the Alternative and Core elements have been reduced (alike to ì the parted Ex-singer Peter Dolving), you still can't file them under pure ì Trash. Some breaks are just too untypical. The musical slap mentality of a ì "Hate song" was reduced in favour of higher variability and joy for details ì without the need to name them wimps.
