by Markus Wosgien (04.10.2006) Thinking of Ireland, you immediately think of the Celts and of traditional Folk. The love for mythology and Celtic music brought the guys in Cruachan together one decade ago and let them become one of the leading bands in their genre. With their single "Ride on", the quintet even entered the Irish charts in 2002 further establishing their name. "The morrigan's call" breathes a lot of naturalness. Traditional instruments, such as the banjo, flutes and violins duel with guitars, bass and drums and melt together for a fascinating unit. The sound is very refreshing and the known Folk melodies greatly enhance the colourful mix of styles. In times, the band drives itself to madness, bringing up their Metal roots or suddenly appearing diabolic. For the rest, also the fans of bands like The Pogues, Flogging Molly and Blackmores Night could risk an ear. At the latest after some high percentage Guiness, they all will fall into their arms and drink to the Celts.
