Patrick Schmidt

by Patrick Schmidt (July 2004) What a killer! Unearth from Boston have long become one of the hottest metalcore acts in the States and are being mentioned in one breath with Killswitch Engage, Chimaira or Hatebreed. No wonder, their current smasher, "The Oncoming Storm" is of rare quality. Fatter guitars has no new generation band. The five always plays straight to the point and combines great melodies with cool mosh parts. Take 'Failure', e.g., or the first single release, 'Black Hearts Now Reign'. That's absolute Killswitch Engage-format. Their guitarist Adam Dutkiewicz produced "The Oncoming Storm", by the way. If you want to know what's going on in modern metal you won't get by Unearth. The best idea is to secure the first edition of the album inclusively a free bonus dvd documenting the live qualities of Unearth. A must!
