by Anne-K. Fricke (15.09.2008) This Bonfire live DVD (a double one) is a genuine piece of cream pie and that’s value for money. A Hard Rock interpretation of Schiller’s "Die Räuber" (The Robbers) - that was the ambitious aim of the Germans, and I bet that I wasn’t the only one around having second thoughts about that project. Wrongly so! This DVD package shows that they have delivered. Musically, the stuff reminds me of the successful releases they had in the Eighties. Claus Lessmann & Co found good partners who helped them to transfer the sound material to the theatre. The performance takes 210 minutes and is no mean feat at all. Of course, you can’t compare a theatre performance with a live gig. But both parties, the actors with their German text and the Hard Rock musicians with their instruments, convince and do well together.. You can see that right at the beginning, when Bonfire enter the stage and start off with "Bells of freedom". The second DVD contains tons of bonus stuff worth watching: nine music clips, a "Behind the scenes" and a new version of the classic clip "You make me feel" leave nothing to be desired.
