by Adam Weishaupt (19.02.2010) Some say that Annotations Of An Autopsy are the next Carcass, and indeed, the British quintet seems to be on that way... First, we have the fantastic cover artwork done by Pär Oloffson (Immortal, Exodus, and many more), reminding you of the classic ones Obituary, Morbid Angel & Co. already have shown to the world. Having digested that, you are attacked by a mean barrage of nasty Death Metal, leaving you weak and wounded. If you still move after it, a merciless, British old-school riff massacre will finish you off - think Benediction meets Napalm Death, combined with the more extreme sounds of Carcass and Extreme Noise Terror here. But mind you, all this is always studded with fantastic melodies à la old Entombed and Dismember. The unholy opus was produced in the Foel Studios (Napalm Death), and the final mix was done by ex-Morbid Angel mastermind Erik Rutan who also has a guest appearance on brute and raw "Bone crown". "The reign of darkness" is a classy, awesome, thrilling Death Metal output - simply brilliant!
