by Andreas Reissnauer (21.11.2007) The New Wave Of American Heavy Metal is unstoppable! The whole genre has arrived in Europe meanwhile, bands, like Chimaira and Lamb Of God have tremendous success and the fan base is growing consisting of both the young folks and the old Pantera generation. Of course, it was only a question of time until the first bands of the old Europe show up and do what their American colleagues are up for. Scarpoint is such a band now releasing their debut album, "The silence we deserve". The musicians' high technical skills can be explained by the fact that the band exists since 2000. Scarpoint's sound can be described as a mixture of the heavy aggression of Lamb Of God and the technical madness of Meshuggah. Daniel Bergstrand gave the album an extremely heavy sound, so the closeness to Meshuggah is not surprising - Bergstrand has produced several albums of the Northern Swedes. Furthermore, singer Henrik Englund sounds like the little brother of their singer, Jens Kidman, and reveals a similarly impressive, screaming voice. The songs are of excellent quality – so if you can imagine a blend of Lamb Of God and Meshuggah, this one is for you!
