by Oliver Kube (20.04.2009) After he had left Nine Inch Nails 1993, guitarero Richard Patrick became axe-cum-voice man, and launched his own project. Their debut album "Short bus" (1995) already marked the breakthrough for these Industrial / Alternative rockers, due to single smashers such as "Dose" and "Hey man, nice shot". Four years later, they released the even bigger success "Title of record", containing aggressive and catchy ear candies like "Welcome to the fold" and "Take a picture". 2002, parallel to the third output "The amalgamut" (including "Where do we go from here"), Patrick checked in for a longer stint in rehab and broke up the band. Filter resurfaced 2008 with "Soldiers of misfortune", taken from the classy album "Anthems for the damned". This compilation, offered just in time for the European tour with Papa Roach, contains all mentioned singles plus four songs so far exclusively released on soundtracks: the perfect starter kit for a Filter-newbie.
