Excellent Service

Hardly any band has possessed the audacity to earn so much respect from the most merciless critics without compromising on their own terms like the once ridiculed extreme death metal band Cannibal Corpse. And yet, the machinery runs flawlessly, best evidenced by 'The Wretched Spawn'.

    They Deserve To Die

by Eugen Legat (04/01) Hardly any band ever received so much constant praise and respect by most critics like these extreme-Deathers. Suffocation may have been similarly important for a whole style generation in U.S. Death Metal but they neither had the power to persist nor the success of the cannibals. The machinery couldn't run any better and there's no sign of fatigue: since the turn of the millenium the band rather ì concentrated on gimmicks and extras such as the live album, the "Worm infested" EP or the great box set. "The wretched spawn" now presents 13 new masterpieces. The shortest and most aggressive ones open the album, the groovy title track and the tormenting, slow "Festering in the crypt". "Blunt force casration" even brings in some core-elements, "Slain" serves old and new school fraction and, and, and... fuck it: a splendid return! (Eugen Legat - 04/01)
