by Jürgen Tschamler (04/01) After the breathtaking 2002-album "Man and machine"- the definitively heaviest U.D.O. album ever - the guys around Stefan Kaufmann and Udo Dirkschneider have reduced the heaviness on their new album "Thunderball". It can't be denied that they slightly watched over to Accept-regions and now present a thrilling mix for old Accept- as well as new U.D.O. fans. "Thunderball" begins with the title track and awakes memories of "Fast as a shark". Only the chorus is ì straighter. The rest of the song is in the vein of the old classic. "Pull the trigger" is a pumping mid-tempo hit with an extraordinary chorus, a song that should become a fixed part of the live repertoire in the future. The most unusual track is "Trainride in Russia" which in parts sounds like a Russian Folk song. Also the vocals are partly in English and in Russian. Unusual, but very suitable for U.D.O. Udo's vocals are a bit rougher than on the predecessor, which in fact can be said about the whole production. As I said before, "Thunderball" will neither disappoint old Accept fans nor new U.D.O. fans. They will stand together as one banging their heads! (Jürgen Tschamler - 04/01)
