by Randy (null) "Tyranny" describes the strongest and most pressured Shadow Gallery album yet. Already the opener conveys the strenghts of the US combo: great compositions, a fantastic feeling for melodies and unbelievable musicians who play together in perfect harmony. Each title is full of musical genius but never leads into musical one-sidedness. They created their own sound which from time to time reminds of old "When dream and..."-Dream Theater times and sometimes brings back the memories of Savatage. Songs like "Mystery", "Hope for us", "I believe" or "Ghost of chance" are catchy throughout and stick to your brain like bubble gum to hair. But above all the voice of singer Mike Baker gives the songs the final polish. This milestone is to be found somewhere on the peak of the prog rock hills. The piece is an absolute long runner and the 74 minutes are extremely entertaining. Excellent from the first second to the last chord!
