by Jürgen Tschamler (18.12.2006) Jorn Lande releases two albums at the same time. As was announced earlier, "Unlocking the past" contains cover versions of songs predominantly coming from the Deep Purple/Rainbow corner. For this album, Jorn invited a star-ladden line-up featuring e.g. Don Airey, John Macaluso, Ronnie Le Tekrö and many others. Songs like "Fool for you loving", "Burn", or "Kill the King" are real burners and perfectly suit Jorn. But also Bad Company's "Feel like making love" is a killer! Among the ten songs there is only one flop which is a great quota, I shall say. Jorn's new studio album, "The Gathering" contains a total of 16 songs, again recorded with hand-graded musicians. The album sounds clearly fresher and heavier than the last studio album. The pace was increased which really helps the case. Jorn himself sings like a god again. Already the first two songs of the album indicate where it's going and this pace is kept through the whole album. Great Heavy Rock songs with emotions, finest melodies and some balanced heaviness, a great album. "Gate of tears" alone is worth the money!
