by Andreas Reissnauer (12.04.2007) The former guest vocalist, Sabine Weniger was promoted to lead singer honours - which, of course, reflects in the new songs because Sabine's powerful vocals crown every song on "Wolves". And that's excellent because the lady's catchy vocal lines are the colourful topping on the ice of the unique sound of the Germans. Deadlock are usually considered Metalcore but after all they don't have too much in common with that genre. The band lives vegan, but that's it. The music of the six-piece band is rather settled in Death Metal combining influences of the Gothenburg school with dynamics that resemble e.g. Soilwork plus incorporate Gothic-orientated keyboards. The structures are intricate, the musicians skilful and still, every song culminates in a catchy chorus. The extremely male voice of Johannes Prem further provides the brutality factor. In the keyboard passages, they sometimes go too far, if you ask me, but that's the only little flaw!
