by Andreas Reissnauer (01/03) Every new year, Swedes lord of the darkness appear with a new album. The ì times of merciless hammering like on "Panzer division marduk" seem to be ì over. The quartet from Scandinavia consistently follows the path they've ì chosen with their last album, "Le grande danse macabre" and further included ì even more mid-tempo songs that, apart from the scream-vocals by Legion have ì not much to do with Black Metal any more. This is simply simple Metal, ì almost grooving and with a cool easiness. Marduk have not completely changed ì to slow song, however, of course also on "World funeral" there are some ì tracks that the band has become famous for, fast like a speed train. At the ì end of the day, I can say that "World funeral" is the definitely most ì variable album in the band's history. An album that offers something for ì every Marduk fan and that I like extraordinarily! (Andreas Reissnauer - ì 01/03)
