by Markus Eck (30.10.2009) 2007, very brute "Rom 5:12" caused some discussions among fans of these Swedish Black Metal poster children. Now, Marduk release "Wormwood" - this new opus contains an overall delectable versatility, and not only regarding rhythm work. Apart from their trademark musical juggernauts, the dark Scandinavian quintet took the liberty of recording some not so brutally fast moments on this Black manifesto. The timing of the instrumentalists is verging on perfection, resulting in impressive staccato work by band leader Morgan and drummer Lars Broddesson. Vocal monster Daniel "Mortuus" Rosten also adds some surprising nuances to this orgy of brutality, and the fascinating hysterical melodies complete the quartet's latest material effectively.
