by Poseidon Nutella (19.07.2007) What would you expect from a new Obituary album? Exactly, low guitars, grooving riffs and the insane vocals of Mr. Tardy. And that is what "Xecutioner's return" gives you and even a bit more. Every song features a guitar-solo so weird that seems as if it came directly from the psychiatry – and in fact probably did. The raw production is adequate. Southern flair meets headbanger music! "Evil ways", "Seal your fate" "Feel the pain" and the psychotic "Contrast the dead" are my favourites. "Frozen in time" may have hit me even harder but "Xecutioner's return" is a good Obi-album combining all trademarks. Surprising only is that the band has left Roadrunner to sign Candlelight.
