The Batcaver is the punk among goths. Actually, its name is based on a revival that was triggered by some bands around 2005. It is named after the Batcave, a legendary London club that was the crucible of the English goth scene between 1982 and 1985. Above the coffin-shaped entrance you could see an imposing bat, which gave the discotheque and today's scene its name. There were no Batcaver back then, but those who pogoed in front of the stage to Alien Sex Fiend looked like today's Batcaver. Today, batcavers are back in fashion. With their platform shoes, they often look like giant aliens from a dark star.

Typical clothing

At the Batcaver, everything is broken. Extra of course! The most important item of clothing is the women's tights, which are also worn by men and are often layered in several layers and different colours. The tights are everywhere: on the torso, over the shoes on the legs. Female batcavers often wear short skirts, tight tops and high heels. Either with spiked or platform heels. The latter is also found on men. Some increase their natural height by 15 cm (!). Their legs are tucked into tight skinny jeans and they sometimes wear a belly with a net through the top. The leather jacket is obligatory, covered with rivets and decorated with patches. Everywhere. When it gets warm, the Batcaver swaps the leather jacket for an equally decorated waistcoat.

Typical make-up

Batcavers wear very light make-up to show off the bright colours on their face. A lot helps a lot! This is especially true when it comes to eye shadow, which is often a strong purple, blue or red to go with the colour of the hair. You use less lipstick, but plenty of kohl around the eyes. But people often steal the drag style and glue on artificial eyelashes. If you like it particularly creative, you underline the look with make-up accents, mainly on the eyes and cheeks.

Typical hairstyles

The hair is the most striking feature of the Batcaver. In the vast majority of cases, he wears the deathhawk, also called a mohawk haircut. It protrudes up to half a metre above the wearer's head and, in addition to its imposing height, is decorated with equally imposing colours. At the temples, one leaves "tips". The sidecut and/or undercut is also often dyed and sometimes wears a colourful leopard pattern.

Typical music

The Batcaver prefers, punky-rock music that also invites pogoing. The Damned, Sex Gang Children, Virgin Prunes and Alien Sex Fiend are on his list of classics, while he also doesn't disdain newer fare like Cinema Strange, Scarlet's Remains and The Scary Bitches. On the dance floor, things get rougher. You push and shove, just as you would at a pogo, but you can just as easily gruff out to quiet passages. Since the Batcaver has perfected his rough dancing, you don't have to be afraid on the dance floor even if you are a gentler representative of the scene. The Batcaver only push each other - if at all - and dance around others.
