To say there’s never been - and never again will be - another like David Bowie is an understatement. From the man who fell from earth to the man who voiced a cartoon in SpongeBob SquarePants, versatility and variety were Bowie’s bread and butter.
A rock god and a music legend, David Bowie is a Brixton boy who changed the face of pop culture. Born David Robert Jones in 1947, Bowie first started recording under the name Davie Jones but later changed it to Bowie to avoid confusion with Davy Jones from the Monkees. That little Monkee might have helped cement an icon, as Bowie was born, and history begun.
Throughout his career, Bowie has been many people. He’s been Ziggy Stardust. He’s been Aladdin Sane. The Thin White Duke. The Goblin King. The Blind Prophet. A producer, a singer, an actor, a husband, a father. When he passed away in 2016, even people who might not have been hardcore Bowie fans had a memory from his legacy.
Whether that was watching him (and his rather pronounced bulge) in The Labyrinth or a connection to his psychedelic music that always told a story or tapped into something bigger than the zeitgeist of the day, Bowie influenced pop culture as we know it. Lady GaGa credits him as her biggest inspiration. Madonna was a lifelong fan. He was friends – and duetting partners – with Mick Jagger, Freddie Mercury and even Bing Crosby.
Our selection of David Bowie official merchandise pays tribute to a true great. Whether you want to grab a Ziggy Stardust t shirt to remember the glam rock days of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars. It’s not the only Bowie t shirt we’ve got though – you might prefer to wear an Aladdin Sane print shirt, featuring the unforgettable lightning bolt makeup across his face and eye which has been recreated by artists including Lady GaGa. That signature lightning bolt repeats across our David Bowie merch, with Ziggy Stardust inspired earrings and necklaces proving that lightning can indeed strike twice.
Bowie helped society confront questions about gender, identity and much more. As well as more unanswerable questions. Like is there life on Mars? We can’t be sure of that just now, but if there is, we’re sure Bowie’s influence would conquer those planets too.
