France might be typically associated with slow, sensual jazz and the romantic balladry of Edith Piaf et al, but one of death metal’s biggest beasts hailed from the outskirts of Bayonne.

Gojira, originally called Godzilla when they formed in 1996, roared their way into the metal history books through their unpredictable blend of death, thrash, prog rock and post-metal. Their style of beautiful but extremely technical music has earnt them a loyal fan base as well as several Grammy nominations. Releasing seven studio albums that have been critically and commercially well-received, Gojira are often cited as one of France’s most successful exports in major markets, including the United States. In fact, Gojira – made up of members Christian Andreu, brothers Joe and Mario Duplantier, and Jean-Michel Labadie – were the first French band to ever top the Billboard Hard Rock album chart.

The EMP Gojira store is perfectly primed to pay tribute to a band that defied the odds and conquered the world. Shop a wide selection of merch that’ll hit the right note for any fan, from a Gojira t-shirt to a selection of their LPs, including "Fortitude" and "Magma". We’ve got plenty more Gojira merch to choose from, including Gojira hoodies, tank tops and a Gojira patch to customise your favourite pair of jeans or jacket. If that isn’t enough to pique your interest, we’ve got a selection of Gojira merchandise that’s exclusive to our EMP Gojira store. Items you won’t be able to get anywhere else. Talk about that je ne sais quoi.

Feel good about your newest Gojira merch because when you support this band, you’re not just supporting metal legends, you’re supporting a metal band with heart. Not satisfied with being pioneers of metal music, Gojira recently co-operated with the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society to protect marine animals including dolphins, whales, and sharks. You can buy Sea Shepherd clothing at EMP, which helps support this amazing organisation.

So, Gojira holds the record for the loudest concert and sound ever recorded at the Stade de France AND they’re helping save the whales. Talk about range.
