When he first started work on Sons of Anarchy, Kurt Sutter set the wheels in motion for what was to become an iconic landmark in television. First released in 2008, the show centred around the motorcycle club ‘Sons of Anarchy Motorcycle Club Redwood Original’ or SAMCRO. Unlike anything on television at the time, this was a story of freedom and failures, brotherhood and betrayal, violence and vigilantes.
The show was brought to life by its cast, which included Charlie Hunman, playing protagonist Jax Teller, rebranding him from past roles such as Queer as Folk. SOA also starred Ryan Hurst, Theo Rossi and David Labrava, a former Hell’s Angel who helped advise on elements of the show. The series would run for 6 years, eventually becoming FX’s highest rated original series of all time in the US.

SOA – a look back at the series
Sons of Anarchy ran for seven seasons, and each one was a masterpiece in striking visual action and profound storytelling.
The show followed the lives of Jax Teller, who, once president of the biker gang, eventually starts to question his lifestyle. What followed was seven years of compelling entertainment – this biker gang kept their foot on the pedal. What made the show resonate with many was the relatable juxtaposed with the fantastical. Sure, not many of us are living life like the Hell’s Angels, but everyone knows what it feels like to question your decisions, the decisions made for you, and the path being taken.

Mayans M.C. takes place two-and-a-half years after the events of Sons of Anarchy, set hundreds of miles away in the fictional California border town of Santo Padre. The series focuses on Ezekiel 'EZ' Reyes, the gifted son of a proud Mexican family, whose American dream was murdered by cartel violence. Now, his need for vengeance drives him toward a life he never intended and can never escape.
