"A shadowplay for yesterdays" CD by A Forest Of Stars

"A Shadowplay For Yesterdays" is the third album by 'A Forest Of Stars' and can be considered as their final first day with Lupus Lounge/Prophecy Productions after the last year re-releases of „The Corpse Of Rebirth“ (2008) and „Opportunistic Thieves Of Spring“ (2010). Already the first two album gave a hint of their immense potential; however, "A Shadowplay For Yesterdays" still strives for more and raises the bar even higher. While the output is again a concept album in terms of lyrics (it deals with a man who is on a self-destructing, blasphemic journey, the gentlemans club opens up the doors for new sound styles. The typical dark and mysterious compositions create again the base of the music; however, the avant-garde black metal style shows influences of the rich musical heritage in Britain: epic doom riffs are included as well as the melodic and playful style of classic progressive rock. Despite its musical variety and complexity, the gentleman club managed to make "A Shadowplay For Yesterdays" one of their most accessible albums so far.
