by Jürgen Tschamler (12.04.2007) With their last two records, the Italians have found back and permanently developed their direction. On their seventh studio album, they again manage to increase their musical level an accordingly are at their very best on "Blackenday". The Italian quintet skilfully changes between Melodic/Power Metal and Techno Thrash and refines this explosive mix with catchy, phat refrains and melodies with depth. In fact, the only band I could come up with naming for such a skilful genre mix, is the British Threshold. Eldritch present some great riffs, complete them with phat, multi-choir vocal passages and prove their sense for good compositions. Despite their complexity, the songs on "Blackenday" are easy accessible and don't overtax the listener. Songs, like "Why", "Black rain" and " Broken road", to name but three, reflect the whole musical range of the Italians.
