"Brave New World" was composed during the Ed Hunter tour in spring 1999 in Portugal and recorded after this tour in autumn 1999 at the Guillaume Tell Studios in Paris. Kevin Shirley worked as new producer, supported by Steve Harris as co-producer.
The song material on "Brave New World" turned out to be more progressive than on former albums and resulted in long, multi-piece titles such as "Dream Of Mirrors" or "The Nomad". Thus Iron Maiden managed to gain new fans from the Progressive Metal sector. "Brave New world" reached place no. 3 in the German charts and stayed among the top 10 for three weeks!
